OK, here's more Rose Bowl trivia. Stanford once lost the Rose Bowl in consecutive years: in 1934 to Columbia and 1935 to Alabama. However, three different schools have lost the Rose Bowl in three consecutive seasons. One of those teams is in the current Pac-12 and the other two are in the current B1G. Can you name them without looking it up?
If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
