In the early pandemic, movie theaters were struggling to fill seats; now they are struggling to fill screens, mostly due to the "tepid" results that Tenet got (I put "tepid" in quotes because it has made $300 million, but expectations were for 2-3x that).  With the latest James Bond movie pushed back to April (at least), movie theaters have no content to show.

Your best bet, if you want a movie theater experience, is to go to the Drive In in San Jose.

They are currently showing Tenet.  But if you are looking for a sit down movie theater experience, I would wait.  There are no tentpole movies coming out through the end of the year, and although the risk is probably manageable (it is an enclosed area, but probably adequately distanced, mask wearing is possible, and no one is talking), the risk is not worth it if the movies available aren't the ones that really benefit from the theater experience.

This is interesting. 

On this point, the science, such ss it is, is cautiously on the side of the reopening. It can't be said that either Newsom or the county authorities in San Mateo have been casual in dealing with Covid. 

And yet here we are. I'm not rushing back. My wife is even more cautious. But though this is prudence. it's mot quite as rationally based as earlier avoidance.

I'm going to wait a few weeks. If the regulations hold up, no clusters, no reversals, yes, I will go.

I'm flying on Friday to my granddaughter's birthday party in Burbank. That also turns out to be quite a bit safer than you might think. I picked up this link on a conservative site, but the JAMA network seems legitimate enough and the article is rationally phrased. It makes me curious about the dynamics of theater ventilation.

Anecdotal on airports, but both my wife and a client flew to Seattle in last couple months.  Both were surprised/almost shocked at how active the Seattle airport was, especially in comparison to San Jose - which was a ghost town, even last Wednesday afternoon.

Heading to Chicago shortly from SFO.  Hope they aren't crowded. . .

I flew to Detroit in Mid August. SFO was a ghost town. Detroit was much more crowded. Never felt uncomfortable.  Easy to find a spot to get away.  Flew Delta.  They limit  capacity to around 60% no middle seats handing out wipes everybody masked  no food service except a bag of water and some chips didn’t feel the least bit uncomfortable.

I flew Delta out of Detroit an awful lot, given that it's a hub.  They do a very good job, and they follow you on social media.  The Delta terminal at DTW is quite nice, the other terminal, not so much.

I feel like I can just roll with whatever and adapt to new realities as needed. There are plenty of new, enjoyable hobbies away from crowds I can pick up. For one, I’ve been learning a new language, using a combination of textbooks and free apps.

In February, I happened to sign up with MHZ Networks, an over-the-net LARGE collection (> 50,  maybe 100) of European TV series, from a number of countries.  Good way to work on at least understanding any of a variety of languages.  (The subtitles are actually good, not just literal translations.)   My wife & I watch a couple of hours every night, and I'm not one to watch TV.

Did you see A French Village?

We watched one episode but had other shows that match our tastes.   We're more inclined toward the mysteries.
I forgot to mention that since there are typically many episodes available, you can binge watch if you want.  No waiting for next week or next season.

On binge watch during SiP front, I highly recommend these series:

1.  The Night Manager (1 season);

2.   Berlin Station (3 seasons);

3.  Broadchurch (2 or 3 seasons);

4.  The Tunnel

5.  The Last Kingdom (Uhtred, Son of Uhtred).  GoT light, but entertaining.

Less enamored with, but still pretty good, The Forgotten.

Based on most recent Emmy's, I dove into Succession.  Really disappointed.  Maybe it's just I'm so turned off by the lifestyles of the Uber Rich and Uber Obnoxious.  But even putting that aside, there isn't a redeeming character in the series, as far as I can tell.

I really liked Broadchurch, the first two seasons.  Didn't care for the American version, "Gracepoint" which also stars David Tennant.  Not a bad series, but not great.  Didn't see your others.

Binged Black Mirror, Ozark, wife is binging Lucifer and Blacklist. Looking forward to Westworld.  Curious about The Boys.  Think Stranger Things is highly overrated.
