Also I will observe that the offers are heavily weighted towards offensive players at least according to 247 Sports. It's at least 2/3 to 1/3 for offense right now. And several of the defensive offers have already committed elsewhere.
We offered 3 QBs, which is a first. Very clear we're taking one. Two? Dunno. (I doubt it.)
Offers have always been weighted towards offense first. Shaw makes the final decision on offers, and he's an offensive guy. This cycle's offer extravaganza really boils down to an abnormally high number of offensive offers, and a slightly-higher-than-normal number of defensive offers.
Some of the defensive offers committing elsewhere already is nothing new. We offered a whale OLB/DE in small-town Ohio? Of course he commits early on to Ohio State. (I think that's happened in the last 3-4 cycles, funnily enough. Whales from Ohio rarely leave, period.) There is some traction with a couple already-committed guys, though. Some committed as freshmen to different coaches/staffs. That's crazy early.
