I'm sure they will continue to rise for some time. But Newsom has at least demonstrated he will take some action if things are getting bad. Imagine being an ICU doc at that Idaho hospital while your government votes down masks. Ugh.

Double ugh! It seems to me when you are Lombardy II you really need to go full blast into a lockdown. If you don't, that 99% is going to hit 110% and climbing. Since hospital admissions are a "lagging" statistic, they are probably already going to go above capacity even if they take action immediately. The can "export" some cases to Washington and Oregon which will help, but if the locale doesn't take aggressive action things will just continue to get worse.
