Unfortunately, he could do those things. Firing Fauci would be totally without cause, but he could do it. Derailing vaccine efforts would be somewhat harder, but he certainly could make it more difficult for the developers. He can still do lots of damage, but what he can't do is force the body politic to behave stupidly. That is up to "us". Unfortunately, the direction the case count is going kind of indicates we aren't doing enough. I also get the impression that lots of people just don't care anymore. This COVID-19 stuff is just too inconvenient for them. I hope I am wrong.
