The problem with this is that none of these athletes get sick - if there is any reporting on it, it's usually along lines of "He is asymptomatic," or "he is showing some mild symptoms."  And so the reaction of John Q. Public is "they sure are taking a lot of precautions for very little harm."  And before you say "Yeah, but if they didn't, all older people would drop like flies," maybe.  But do you ever hear about that?  It's impossible to report on with any certainty, of course, but I'm still surprised we haven't seen much along those lines given agenda of much of MSM leading up to the election.  Was the El Paso strain on hospitals due to the kids being back at UTEP or the team playing football?  If so, I haven't seen that connection (or attempt at it). Perhaps because given demographic of the community, that is a less-likely causal factor.

I guess from my point of view, the message to be heard from athletes being quarantined (like Mills, who is not (yet) positive) is that it doesn't matter that it is inconvenient, and that while they may actually never test positive, they are doing what they need to do in order to contain the disease. It isn't for their grandparents, it is for the whole society. If essentially everybody behaved that we would be in a much better situation. Sometimes a few have to be inconvenienced for the good of many. That concept seems not to play in "modern" America. It needs to.
