Tangential thought:  does a #1 ranking, final four appearance or national championship have a meaningful impact on women's hoops recruiting at Stanford?  There is no doubt it has a significant impact for schools that don't have academic restrictions, but I don't see how it expands our pool in any significant way, though it may help with academic qualifiers who may be on the fence about Stanford for one reason or another.

I'd love to see this team giving our recruiting a little lift, but I'm doubtful that it can make much of a difference, as much as I'd like to hope otherwise.  Thoughts?

Do you think regular NY6 bowl game appearances have an impact on football recruiting?

The academics first kids are always going to give Stanford a good, long look.
But it's the sports first kids who want to play for a championship where FF appearances make a difference.  And there are some sports first kids who have the academic chops to hurdle admissions, even if sport is their first love. [indeed, there may be several of them on the WBB team right now].  So yes, I think it matters.

Now, given Stanford women's basketball success over the years (including many FF appearances), the women's team may already also be in the "championship contender" category for most all recruits (unlike football).  But if you go on a dry spell of no FF appearances, then I think it would impact recruiting.
