No he wasn’t. He was a fixture for years, the Dolphins were often in the hunt and he took them to a Super Bowl. He also was not the No 1 QB as you know. And the guy who was went to 5 SBs in 15 years. Won a couple. I suspect you remember him..... :).
Having said that, I guarantee you that had you offered to place a bet in ‘85 that the Dolphins with Marino and Shula would not get back to the SB, you’d have gotten great odds and a lot of takers. So in that respect, it was certainly personally disappointing to Marino.
Also, if you think Mayfield will approach Marino’s level, I got a bridge to sell you.
