Running 7 separate networks is more expensive than running one, even if you are sharing content between the networks.
I agree that it would be a bad development for fans. But it may be a decision they must make for the sake of the business.
Perhaps games that are not televised can be streamed online. After all, that does seem to be where tv is headed - streaming services. In 10 years, will you even be able to access shows and sports without an internet connection?
