Reading this board, you wouldn't know that we beat the 9th ranked team in the country by double digits, clinched the Pac-12 championship with a game to go, and had one of our most successful Pac-12 seasons in ages, despite playing most of the year with no home court.  Moreover, unlike many of the 23(!) other Pac-10/12 championships, we won in one of the most competitive league's we've competed in (with 4 top-15 teams, against whom we went a collective 5-1).  I mean, of course there is always room to improve, but I for one am savoring tonight.

By the way, in our last 10 games, we've allowed exactly one to score more than 60 points (Oregon, at 61).  We've held 6 of the 10 to under 50 points.

In my opinion, it's just based on the level of expectations given the quality of the team and the success that the program has enjoyed under Tara. If this was the men's basketball team, I would be over the moon ecstatic about this accomplishment.

Don't get me wrong; I am very happy that we won a Pac-12 regular season conference title and tallied another top-10 win on our resume, especially given the situation the team had to play through and the level of competition. They had to deal with a lot of adversity throughout the season and still came out on top, which speaks volumes about their resilience and mental toughness.

At least for me, the bar has been set so high with this program, that I am already looking ahead to the NCAA tournament. For all of the accomplishments and greatness of this program (I am extremely proud of the high level of excellence; I think that's why I personally get so worked up sometimes about the team when they don't play well), the final prize has been elusive for almost 30 years now. The gripes over Haley's 7 turnovers or Brink's struggles staying out of foul trouble is because we've come so agonizingly close and in a close game against a top opponent, a critical turnover or intercepted pass late in the game could mean the difference between a win and a loss, as we already saw in our two defeats this season.

And I don't think being happy and proud for the team and all that the players and coaches have accomplished under trying circumstances are mutually exclusive from being concerned with the weaknesses the team still have. I am and will still be proud of the team no matter how they finish the season, whether with a win or a loss. I really hope it's with a win, or at least with a trip to the Final Four. I would love to see the team on the biggest stage again and see Kianna, Anna and Alysa finish their collegiate careers (if this is their last seasons on the Farm) with a chance to play for a national title.
