Stanford with 4 in the 8th to win 10-6. Tawa drives in run 7 then Huff hits a three run HR
Questions for the baseball cognoscenti from someone who isn't very familiar with the roster (and hasn't been since the 2019 season):
-how good can our hitting be this season? We've been lighting up the scoreboard but not sure if that's a function of Santa Clara's pitching or if we might have the potential to have one of the better lineups in the conference.
-how good can our pitching be once Alex Williams returns?
-assuming things fall together in both areas above, what's the upside for the season? My uneducated guess is that the conference title is still probably out of reach but a regional birth is very possible
-and finally, at the risk of getting ahead of myself, how good do you think this squad can be next season?
Williams AND Palisch. Palisch was the top pitcher in the Cape Cod League two summers ago and the highest rated pro prospect among seniors.
This team will hit and it will hit all year long. The youngsters are super good and fearless. The veterans are veterans and taking advantage. Most importantly they are having fun, playing loose and finding ways to convert opps. Seven HRs over three games when they had two over 16 games last year not too shabby.
Next year, the team will hit again. A ton. Pitching will be the issue, but there are a lot of talented arms. But no Beck, Palisch, Weiermiller and Grech make things more problematic.
