I don't know if this is relevant to any of the players in discussion.   I was surprised to see the extreme variation is acceptance rate for PAC-12 schools.  There are a couple schools that will basically accept anyone.

Yes, not all Pac 12 schools are alike--gargantuan variation.  We all knew Stanford had a ridiculously low acceptance rate, then USC, Berkeley, and UCLA are the only really selective schools.  Washington accepts half.  Everyone else is above 75%.  For comparison, SJSU accepts 63%, which makes it more selective than 6 of the Pac 12 schools, and UC Santa Cruz is 51% and Santa Clara is 48%, putting them on par with Washington.  The one that really surprised me was Oregon, which was a "destination school" for a lot of California kids shut out of the elite UCs.  At 80% it sure doesn't look very elite--WSU is 75%.

Of course there is a lot more than acceptance rates that that make a university a good destination--much more--but the admissions people used to brag about their selectivity and clearly a few Pac 12 schools don't have that particular feature to brag about.
