This is what I mean by Stanford lacking any performance standard coaches are held accountable to meeting. Utah has a discernible standard. Stanford does n
ot.
It does? Is it is writing. C’mon. You fire your coach, you find the “discernible standard.”
Bill Walsh taught me the significance of setting performance standards and holding people accountable to them as a prerequisite for winning.
It's important because when everyone is aligned with a goal, the odds of it being achieved increase significantly. At the same time, lacking agreed to standards makes winning less likely, as is evident with Stanford MBB.
What is it that makes Stanford win Directors Cups? My suspicion is the entire university is aligned to win them and that's why it happens, not because of some amazing ongoing annual coincidence.
Stanford wins Directors Cups because it excels in Country Club and Women’s sports. And because no other University in the Country cares about the Directors Cup.
Didn’t know you worked for Walsh. In what capacity?
I'm all on board with winning Director's Cups and I don't care that no other university does as much. But you also have to have winning programs in football, MBB, and in our case WBB to make enough money to support the other programs.
