As this weekend's action is showing, picking at least a game or two off UW at home would be
easier than beating UCLA, and probably the greatest softball player in the world (professional
or amateur) right now.
Alana did go toe-to-toe with Rachel Garcia, but Garcia at the plate and in the circle just a little
too much.
We did get the benefit of some other bubble teams struggling this weekend (South Carolina
got swept, and now must win one in the SEC tournament to avoid losing record and
likely being out of consideration (though technically losing record teams would be considered this
year, however unlikely). Minnesota has also lost 3 in a row against Michigan, while
Kansas has lost 3 in a row against Iowa State.
Finally, Stanford benefitted from Oregon State notching a win against Arizona State, so all
three wins over the Beavs are RPI Top 50 wins (important criteria for at large selections).
We are still #42 in RPI after the midweek, and loss on Friday (will have to see positioning
after two losses to Bruins today).
I agree with Bob's take, picking one off UW, and getting that significant 30th win on the season,
would take some of the pressure off Selection Sunday.
