Baragar went something like 25 straight appearances (both ‘20 and ‘21) without giving up a run. (Which at the end of the day is what matters) He’s walked a few too many. Which explains the WHIP. But he’s been one of their most effective relievers.

Slater's been pinch-hitting a lot lately, and the former Stanford star let Kapler know he wasn't wild about his playing time selections (Kapler mentioned it in the post-game interview today, Slater has said nothing publicly). Slater's doing much better that Dickerson and Tauchman, not as good as Duggar or Ruf (who's injured). Slater and Yaz are doing about as well as each other.
Anyway, the formula seems to be working.
Slater’s splits are telling. If he wants to play more he needs to prove he can hit right handers. He also needs to cut down his strikeouts.
Dickerson has been disappointing. Yaz as well. Kapler is waiting for them to get hot. He’s going to keep running them out there - especially vs right handed pitching.
Hoping they didn’t lose Longoria today. No one is hitting the ball harder. And he’s played a good defensive 3B. To lose him for a stretch would hurt. Badly.
As for the bullpen in general, it’s an issue. I think they are close to the point where they can think about adding. Taylor Rogers (Twins) would be a nice addition. And perhaps not that costly.
