353 early entry candidates for 60 potential draft spots.  That's just flat-out awesome.

And it's actually the smallest number of early entrants since 2016. Many will choose to return to college after they don't get combine invites etc.

160 seniors, 61 juniors, 73 frosh/sophs.

I find it somewhat curious that 160 seniors are considered "early entrants" for the NBA draft. Apparently that is because this season didn't count towards the NCAA eligibility limit. The wording I could find on defining who is automatically eligible for the draft (i.e. not an "early" entrant) was not framed as a direct quotation, but said that those automatically eligible include those who "have completed four years of their college eligibility."

Now, Oscar da Silva has played four years at Stanford, presumably was eligible to play those four years, and one would think he would therefore be automatically eligible for the draft and not an "early" entrant. Since he and other seniors are listed as early, that must not be how the NBA chose to interpret this rule, but rather anyone with eligibility left is "early".

Which leads to another thought. If this is the fewest early entrants since 2016, and if there are 160 seniors classified as early simply due to Covid, then it must be by far the fewest true early entrants in many years.

[And if the NBA simply chose to list everybody eligible to be drafted as an "early entrant" whether early or not, then I guess I should just say ... never mind.]
