On the one-and-done, the question is whether recruiting a non one-and-done would have given us a higher career contribution than our one-and-done did. There are opportunity costs to focusing on one-and-dones, and while they could be great if you have a solid nucleus and you want to bring in an upgrade to take it over-the-top, when your nucleus isn't enough to even get you to the tournament with your one-and-done, I would argue that time is better spent working to upgrade the nucleus.
The problem in my mind is that guys like Da Silva (four year players who improve over the course of their four years) are the exception and not the rule for Haase teams.
