Scores are high because the USGA wants it to be the toughest test in golf. Rough is long, greens are fast, and pins are not in the center of the green. Traditionally, the winner of the US Open will be a few strokes under par at the end of the tournament.
The top 60 and ties will survive the cut. As the morning wave finishes, the projection is +4 will be safe. It might move to +5. Rose Zhang is finished and well behind the cut line. Aline Krauter will need to shoot the round of her life. Heck needs an even par round. Megha Ganne still at the top of the leaderboard at -4, after her even par round today. 17 years old!
