Roster problem. When the four come off who gets cut? Probably Tauchman, Slater, Estrada and Vosler. Maybe a pitcher (Brebbia?). Wade way too valuable.

Who knows what this week brings via trades. Right now, with no changes (by trade or injury) Tauchman will be gone as soon as next position player comes off IL. I’d say Vosler is second on list.  Options, being what they are. Estrada is going to show something in next 10 days or so.  So if he plays real well, he will make it difficult.  But he’s probably third. Then a pitcher. If Brebbia still has options, he has to be the guy.  Unless he turns it around.  I had an analytics junkie vehemently argue with me when I had the audacity to suggest that as he’d given up 13 hits in his last 51/3 innings, he is is not pitching well. (Then he got raked against the Dodgers, so it’s now 15 in 6) You see, his peripherals are good. He’s striking out about 25% of the guys he’s faced.  And his .BABIP is very high. Meaning he’s just unlucky.  

When they add up the peripherals for each team and determine who wins based on that, I’ll buy fully into the peripherals bit.  Plus, it’s a different argument.  I never said he’s a bum or that he can’t turn it around.  Just that right now, he ain’t throwing well.  Plus watching him, his stuff is underwhelming and he’s had poor command within the strike zone. Way too many pitches in the hit me zone. 

The analytic junkies are unbearable.  They know it all.  And it’s all math. Stuff like Batting Ave, RBIs, Wins and ERA don’t matter. (Cause they aren’t predictive). No such thing as clutch. Stolen bases are for idiots. Too much of a chance of losing an out. And bunting?  Oh my god, you must really be dumb….

BTW - strikeouts for pitchers are a dime a dozen.  I dont even pay attention (except when it’s outrageous, like that relief pitcher on Milwaukee last year that averaged about 18 Ks per 9. Course, by the time they were in the playoffs he was hurt).  I do look at strikeout to walk ratio.  But strikeouts?  Hell, seems like damn near everyone averages close to a strikeout per inning.
