I found it curious that they just changed the spelling at the beginning...from in-dians to guar-dians. It'll save them lots of money just to get little stickers with the "guar" to cover the "in" on their letterhead, business cards, etc. ;)

It's an odd name, just like the Mighty Ducks was, apparently inspired by a movie in some part.

I think the new nickname and logo work, in no small part due to the gut feel of looking at the scripted writing and thinking "it's not that different."  The Hanks video is good; and Guardians of the Galaxy also helps.

Taken together, I think Cleveland Guardians will take hold and folks will get comfortable with it very quickly . . . [edit per Terry's post below] . . . unless derailed by trademark/naming litigation.
