Another way to look at this recruiting class is to speculate a bit about where it will end up.  Right now, 247sports says that 9 uncommitted recruits are "warm" regarding Stanford.  Even if Shaw were to keep all the current commits and land all 9 of those recruits, then Stanford's total points for 247sports' team ranking system still would be below Stanford's score in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2020.  Take away any of the top 3 remaining recruits with the "warm" designation (Bailey, Ramsey, and Cooper), and the class would be comparable to 2010, 2011, or 2015 (though a bit ahead of those classes).  Although Stanford really does need a big recruiting class following the abject failure of 2021, I'd be satisfied with a class that retains the current commits and adds any 8 of those 9 recruits.  Narrowly beating out the 2010, 2011, and 2015 classes actually would seem like a win considering the current state of the program.  Of course, a virtual clean sweep like that does not seem likely, especially considering the top 3 recruits I mentioned all are in the top 150, and Shaw hasn't landed one such recruit yet in 2021 or 2022.  But hope remains eternal.
