Don't get me wrong, ColoradoTree, I love the tournament idea, just not the locale. I would feel differently if the games would be played under the lights at multiple Cactus League locations.
I know that Phoenix is basically as easy to fly to as Las Vegas, which I'm sure was a consideration. But I once went to a conference in Phoenix in early June with a colleague. We both brought our tennis racquets and made a deal that we would play a set when the temperature dipped below 100. We started our match at 11 pm.
I say play the tournament at Jackie Robinson Stadium in West L.A. There are plenty of Pac-12 alums from all schools in the L.A. area and the stadium is 10 miles from LAX.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
