I highly doubt this is the reason. Shaw is starting West because he thinks that West gives the team the best chance of winning. We may disagree with that, and those who do will be proven right or wrong tomorrow.

I agree.  He thinks West gives the team the best chance of success, but that might be because of an over-emphasis on experience.
