"Poll: Which fan base is more upset this morning?"
Stanford's fans, in the main, don't do "upset." To a lesser extent, same is true for California, particularly after years and years of underachieving. Stanford's been to 11 bowls in the last 12 seasons, including three Rose Bowls, a Fiesta Bowl and an Orange Bowl. Cal has-beens to three bowls in the last 10 years...the Cheez-It bowl, the Redbox bowl and the Armed Forces bowl. A five point loss to Nevada is not that much to get disappointed about.
The Huskies have been to ten straight bowls. The only seasons in the last 45 years (not including 2020) that Washington was terrible were with a former Stanford coach (Willingham) and a former Cal coach (Gilbertson). Between those six seasons were four last place finishes, one second to last place finish and a 5th place Pac 10 finish. Between Don James, Rick Neuheisel, Jim Lambright, Steve Sarkisian and Chris Petersen the Huskies went to bowl games in 31 of 39 seasons. There were eight Rose Bowls, an Orange Bowl, and a Fiesta Bowl during those seasons.
