The LA friggen Times has always done a better job of covering Stanford, esp. when the opponent is SC or UCLA. Another post cited the superiority of ESPN and The Athletic. Astute. I've known guys on the staff. They shake their heads and agree with me.
You give the public what they want. Since the Bay Area focus is on pro sports, you dedicate your resources to the pro sports. In an area with a population of nearly eight million, what percentage graduated from Stanford or Cal or has a family member who did? In addition, what percentage is not originally from the area and isn’t even aware that Stanford and Cal have football teams? In other words, the days of college sports being the top dog are loooong over. Coverage has been reduced accordingly……
