It was $20 million+ at one point as recently as 1-2 years ago but closer to $10 million now, which explains why he lasted as long as he did.

Don't forget, in October 2018, USC agreed to a $215 million federal class action settlement for the George Tyndall gynecology scandal.  On top of this, in March 2021 USC agreed to a "global settlement" of the remaining sex abuse cases for $852 million.
Oh, and in July 2019, USC paid UCSD $50 million, and gave an apology, for hiring away an Alzheimer's Disease researcher and his staff via duplicitous means.
USC's previous President was a prodigious fundraiser, or so it was reported.  That came in handy.
