Agai, it is not just that they lost. It is how they lost. They didn't play well on offense or defense. The coaches made no significant in-game adjustments to defeat what Stanford was doing. After the loss, Helton had nothing to say except that give us time, we will be fine. That refrain had already worn out it's welcome at U$C. The U$C coaching staff is also kind of cobbled together to appease the fan base who didn't like the program trajectory and blamed the assistants. Going Air Raid was not Helton's choice. As a result, Helton had to hire people with which he had no history and no relationship and who he really didn't choose. While they all may be good coaches, their ability to work together is/was suspect.
Helton had to go because the program was stuck in a place the fans didn't like. Whether a new guy can fix that is a good question. The idea there are inherent "social "problems at U$C does have some merit.
