I'll likely bring my older son this time around, at least, and I'd love to show him some of my favorite old haunts. With the Nuthouse and Oasis closing, it's just the Goose and Zott's left!
The revamped Zotts is really nice. The ownership group did a great job maintaining the charm, but also bringing it a bit more up to date. The only problem is that's is too crowded. Yada, yada, yada, Yogi Berra.
I haven't been there for that very reason. The craziest night I can recall: after the 1978 USC game, which Stanford SHOULD have won, and the overloaded biergarten. Joint was JUMPIN'! Post-game crowd, SC and Stanford people, plus a large group of folks from a software start-up called...Oracle. True story! Never saw Rizzotti's anywhere near that jammed, and my time there was from 1970 through 2012. First-date venue in May, 1972, with the woman who is now my wife of 48 years.
Life is too short to waste on crap football.
