In the post-game presser, Shaw intimated that the Oregon defense was calling “disconcerting signals” while McKee was checking off, leading to the false starts. In the video highlights, I noticed that on the slant to Humphreys, both lines came up out of their stances and froze, seeming to expect a whistle to be blown before McKee rifled the pass. Shaw said he was “animated” on the sidelines, upset by the tactics, and will bring it up with the Rules Committee.
