Not minimizing coaching or "coaching up" or certainly not S&C, but raw athleticism + football speed compensate for a lot of deficiencies elsewhere. Ask the coaches who win.

Ding! College football is 80% recruiting. The team with the better players will usually win. For Stanford, there's a recruiting niche that had been emphasized, beginning with Harbaugh, and now needs to be realized again: TEs and Fullbacks! They were a massive force in Shaw's best seasons, but not nearly so much since '18. Another thing is no more Pocket Passers! As good as McKee is, I think Stanford would be better off with QBs with Hogan-esque kind of improvisational ability. It can't be overstated how brobdingnagian Hogan's ability to create spontaneously was in Stanford's Rose Bowl seasons.
