I didn't expect a straight set loss to UW, but that's OK.
Based on my prognostication last week, Stanford is where I predicted them to be, splitting their WA state road trip and ending the 1st half of PAC 12 play at 7-3 and 12-6 overall.
Now that they've played all their PAC 12 nemeses except for USC, it's time to fine tune their game, have a collective sense of urgency and killer instinct, as they approach what I consider to be the more favorable half of their PAC 12 schedule, as they:
- host the OR and WA schools (which include 3 ranked teams in #10 UW, #16 Oregon and #22 WSU),
- go on the road at the AZ schools, the Mountain schools, USC and Cal (which only includes one ranked team in #18 Utah).
Realistically, I can see them go 9-1 or even 10-0, with UW as the most likely stumbing block to a perfect PAC 12 2nd half of action. Do that, and they end PAC 12 competition at either 16-4 or 17-3 (and 21-7 or 20-8 overall), which should be good enough for a tie for 1st or 2nd place, and most likely an NCAA tournament seeding which means they get to play the 1st and 2nd Round at Maples, which is what we all want.
