OK, I'll play.

The College Football Belt is an unofficial "trophy" first awarded to Nebraska for defeating Alabama in the 1972 Orange Bowl.  The rules of the Belt are simple: all you have to do to obtain it is defeat its current holder head-to-head on the field.  So in their first defense of the Belt on September 9, 1972, Nebraska lost it to UCLA.  Then two weeks later UCLA lost it to Michigan and so on.  In the event of a tie the Belt stays with the holder coming into the game.

Now...... who is the only current member of the Pac-12 conference who has never held the Belt since its inception nearly 50 years ago?

Going to guess Cal, because….

especially given how many opportunities they have had to win it....

Yes, they have historically been a pretty good team, especially in the last 35-ish years, but not USC (and not Cal, as my guess had been, and not Stanford).

Kal is a good initial guess but they have had two separate Belt reigns, one in 1990 and one in 1993.

U$C and Washington have each had Belt reigns in numerous seasons.
