But what's the point of it?  That Shaw has been an ineffective offensive mind whether he is run first or pass first?  Or that the only time Shaw's O is worth a damn is when he has behemoths up front and can run power/phone booth football?  Sorry, that's not good enough.

Was Stanford a "power running" team during the Elway years?  in 1999-200?  No.  But they were good, balanced offenses.  
The notion that phonebooth football is the only way Stanford can succeed is, imo, a surrender mentality and a cop out.  Recruit good OL players; coach 'em up; and run a good schem on O.  So far as I can tell, Stanford is (at least) 0-for-the-last-2, and maybe 0-3 (though I think OL recruiting rankings have been decent).
