To re-state the painfully obvious, the football program is no longer the good, quality one it once was. By every measure it is now sinking below mediocre and getting worse. A flailing coach, sub-par assistants, and a dwindling fan-based that was always fragile, even in the hey-day years of NY6 bowl games. Prospects for better days ahead? Not much evidence. We're in the midst of a reversion to the historical mean of Stanford football. Does Stanford have what it will take institutionally to mount a restoration project comparable to 2007? How long must the few fans remaining have to wait to find out? This is not good for anybody.

No worries.  Shaw is the winningest coach in Stanford history.  Somehow the apologists feel like this overcomes lazy recruiting, sloppy OL line play, (personally I think the OL must improve before they are even sloppy) and little evidence we can tackle anyone in the open field. 

On a happy note, I'll always have great memories of my last Rose Bowl visit when we spanked the Hawkeyes.  What makes me sad is there is nothing to look forward to with Shaw.  Lots of memories, just no future.
