And Joe Starkey's call was abysmal. People who hear Starkey's call now have the benefit of having it accompanied by video, but if you were listening to the radio broadcast you would have had no idea what had happened other than that THE BAND IS ON THE FIELD and THE BEARS HAVE WON, THE BEARS HAVE WON! No mentions of laterals, tosses, keeping the play alive, however you want to describe it. The closest thing he comes to mentioning a lateral is when he mentions "another one" without specifying what "one" is. Even if you want to be generous and give him an allowance for getting caught up in the absurdity and emotion of The Play as it happened in real life, at some point he needed to collect himself and give the listener a better idea of what happened. In contrast, Bill King's Holy Roller call was the perfect way to call an absurd play over the radio.
