I suffered this injury in a skiing accident, and what's said here about the recovery period is right on. Absolutely non-weight bearing on that leg for up to two months which definitely means limited ability to condition leg strength in either leg. She also will lose some range of motion in the injured knee, at least until serious PT can reverse it for her. Yes, a serious injury, and a tricky one to deal with. At least upper body strength can be enhanced from using crutches, which I assume will be her approach.
