Omicron is the second most contagious virus in the world. Only Measles is more contagious, and we have a fail safe vaccine for that one. Over the next 2-3 months the deluge of infections is going to be overwhelming. Luckily most people will be fine in the short term, although many will have subtle chronic symptoms. And some not so subtle.

Maybe you're right. OTOH, I could see other scenarios unfolding, including one where the rule is "If you test positive, you don't play. Otherwise, you may."
Of course, that won't be the rule for Bay Area schools.
I could see a March Madness favoring the laissez-faire regions of the country (which generally isn't Pac 12).
But in that scenario, I also see a LOT of pushback by UCLA, SC, AZ (and I suspect Oregon will be good by season's end, if they play their games - that coach is excellent).
I just think people are tired of restrictions, no matter how prudent such steps may be.
Also, do you really think March Madness will be "wiped out" due to Omicron? I just don't see it . . .
