Cases are already coming down in South Africa.  As with other waves, I think omicron will take about a month to peak, and then will start to come down. If that is correct (and COVID has made fools of many of my other predictions), then I think things will flatten by mid January and should be falling fast by the time March rolls around.  Fingers crossed.

I hope so too. However, there is nothing that says there won't be another variant that starts a new spike in Feb. that peaks in March. I know it sounds pessimistic, but IMHO we just have to realize it can happen. Sports will have to struggle along as best they can given whatever happens next. Maybe this is the "last significant variant", but somehow I doubt it.
