I wouldn’t be too quick to count out WSU at home. They’ve taken some hits this year — many of us who hung around after the Stanford win in the Bahamas to watch WSU get overwhelmed physically and psychically by NC State left the game at halftime. Still, they have skill (many returning players from last year’s team) and a great deal of home-town pride (they’ve played us tough lately).
Stanford needs to learn how to put two consecutive halfs together this season. Teams have made halftime adjustments to our offense, and we have not seemed to anticipate the need for a counter-strategy in the second half. There is much to learn in a young season, and it is critical for our women to not go into Pullman overconfident.
We have the better team and Tara successfully strategized a defense against the younger W-L sister last year. Coming away healthy from Washington is another important consideration. I recall a questionable hit by Teder last year that could have put one of our key players out.
