For once I'd say it's not the David Shaw boogieman but actually the Title IX boogieman. Unless there's appetite for a women's hockey team too, where's the reduction in men's athletes going to come from? Alternatively, what club women's sports are left that could become D1? AFAIK, women's rugby, ultimate frisbee, and quidditch (LOL) are not D1 sports anywhere...
