If JG’s salary next year was $10 mill, it would be different.  But it’s a 27 million cap hit if they keep him.  One of the reasons you draft a “franchise QB” is you get several years cheap.  And can build elsewhere.  If they think Lance can be effective next year, they will release or trade JG.  It’s a 1.4 million cap hit if he’s released.  My guess is they will look to trade him to a team that is solid but needs a QB to get them to the next level and is willing to take on a big chunk of the salary.
