BC, the networks have decided to use two different sensors in live broadcast. It drives me nuts. Normal live broadcasting is still mostly high def in 16x9 with a deep depth of field. The steady cam today had a Super 35 sensor that mirrors the depth of field of theatre motion picture. They operate at wide open apertures that render backgrounds severely out of focus. The director would intercut from a “normal” television camera with HD sensor to a theatrical image. NBC has used a handheld camera with S35 sensor generally following a golfer from green to next tee. The effect is jarring.

How about the female sideline reporter who called Nick Bosa “Joey” twice!

Thanks, it was so jarring that I thought it was computer generated (the way my phone can create fake bokeh).
