I have never really understood how regions vs seeding work for the NCAAW tournament. Is this saying that in current resume we are likely to be either the 2 or 3 seed overall along with the winner of the ACC and thus would meet up in the semi final, or is there something deeper with Geography going on someone can explain to me?
Yes, you're in the same page as I am.
That's assuming South Carolina does not mess up in SEC play thus retaining their overall #1 seed, while Stanford dominates or simply wins the PAC 12 regular season.
Stanford will either be the overall #2 or overall #3 seed as the Spokane Regional #1 seed, while the top ACC team (at this point, either Louisville or NC State) will be the other #2 overall or #3 overall seed and the #1 seed in their Regional.
UNLESS Tennessee (currently 17-1 and ranked AP #5) continues its superb form, beats UConn at UConn and comes out either #1 (if they beat South Carolina in SEC play) or #2 in the SEC, they still have a chance to grab one of the Regional #1 seeds, and could be paired vis-a-vis Stanford's Regional #1 seed.
Two Possible scenarios:
*********************
#1 overall seed - South Carolina
#2 overall seed - Stanford
#3 overall seed - Louisville or NC State
#4 overall seed - Louisiville or NC State
#1 overall seed - South Carolina
#2 overall seed - Stanford
#3 overall seed - Tennessee
#4 overall seed - Louisville or NC State
#1 overall seed - South Carolina
#2 overall seed - Stanford
#3 overall seed - Louisville or NC State
#4 overall seed - Tennessee
