I can't decide whether I should take a shower, go to confession, or what (for sticking my nose into what ain't my business).

As to the article, 

Melissa Barlow says she learned the value of discipline and good strategy from basketball, which she played competitively throughout high school and college.

It goes into detail about her financial acumen, pocketing $15,000/year (1996) for reffing in addition to her pharma account exec job. It was pretty impressive.
