We haven't had a truly dominant big, especially on offense, since Chiney in 2013-14. The closest have been Erica McCall (really only her senior season when we went to the Final Four) and Alanna Smith (same, basically midway through her junior year to end of senior year). For much of that stretch our offense subsisted off of role players who could provide three point shooting (Samuelsons/Jump), jump shots (Orrange and Thompson) and slashing guards (Carrington and McPhee). The beauty of Kiana Williams was that she could do all of those, but she didn't really have a big she could reliably feed to inside, because, for a variety of reasons, none of Ally Beebe, Kailee and Kaylee Johnson, Nadia Fingall, or Maya Dodson ever become reliable insider scorers. It's just frustrating that we can't seem to assemble all the pieces at the same time!

That's true. Though we missed on Rice, hopefully Nivar's McDonalds All-American selection is an indication of big things to come and maybe we can land Watkins in the Class of '23.

Dodson also has figured out something at N.D. She is averaging 12.6 pts per game this season with double digit scoring in seven of her last eight games and going over 20 points four times this season.
