gostanford.com says TV coverage will be on Pac-12 Mountain, but according to my Sling guide that will be at 10pm Pacific.

no live tv?!?!? 

6 pac-12.com stations, with 3 games being broadcast live (including cal-colorado). and then nothing live at 9, and 7pm games broadcast at (my sling guide says) 10:30.

presumably they are short of broadcasters and each pair will double up and do a game tape-delayed as if it were live.

imo it would be MUCH better if stanford would just live-stream the game. i just emailed eileen roche and wilder treadway.

The way to test if they are short of broadcasters or channels is to check if the Stanford-Utah will be streamed live. If it will be streamed live, it means that they are short of channels, not broadcasters. In the Bay Area we have the Pac-12 Net (Comcast 823) and Pac-12 Bay Area (Comcast 1330). Pac-12 Net is carrying the conflicting UA-ASU game at 6 PM, either because of contractual requirement or because it is deemed to be of greater interest across the whole Pac-12. Pac-12 Bay Area is carrying the Cal-CU game at 7 PM. Yes, Cal is at the bottom of the standings, but I think they are contractually entitled to a certain amount of live coverage. So Stanford-Utah gets pushed into replay time.
Note that the treatment is reversed on Sunday, with our CU game carried live and the Cal-Utah game pushed into replay time on Pac-12 Bay Area.
Lastly, this is opening weekend for softball, with Pac-12 Net carrying many softball games, creating more competition for time slots.

you seem knowledgeable about pac-12.com. how are they short of channels? they have 12 teams and 6 channels. how is it that they have 6 channels yet only show 3 games? every week with or all games show on 2 channels rather than 1?

for what it's worth, wilder treadway wrote back right away to say that pac-12.com says the game is on the pac-12 mountain channel at 7; ignore what sling says. i wrote back,

thanks. i hope you’re right. as i understand, pac-12.com requires us to sign in to a tv provider in order to watch the game. since the pac-12 still doesn’t have a contract with directv, many of us use sling; so we do depend on sling’s actual programming rather than on pac-12.com’s intent.
we'll see if sling or pac-12.com is correct.
