West was a bust walking in the door. We offered him and he committed way too early to know whether he would continue to be good (hint: he didn't) and didn't back the commitment off when everyone else made their offers non-committable. He was "highly touted" despite not deserving to be after his bad junior and senior HS seasons. There is a reason we have never offered another QB even close to as early since then.
