While I am sympathetic with the desire to use inclusive language, and generally try to think of how my words might be received, in a forum such as this where most people have tried to be respectful despite widely varying views, I think it is better to focus on the substance of individual’s posts rather than whether they use “Problematic” or “preferred” language. Most people here have tried to be respectful while articulating their sincerely held beliefs and we should presume good faith.  A debate about whether transgender is used as a noun or an adjective may wind up counterproductive, and I think would have people more worried about stepping on language land mines than sharing and reading each others’ views.
