Most teams were affected by Covid to some degree for a couple games. Stanford just was deep enough to win the games they were missing players due to Covid. UConn probably still loses to Oregon if they weren't missing a player due to Covid, but it would of been a close game.
I'd say there is a 50/50 chance that UConn winds up in Bridgeport as a two seed. Healthy, they are one of the best 4 teams in the country, but the best teams they can possibly play in the Big East tournament are ranked 36 and 42 according the Massey. They don't have strong opponents before Selection Sunday to justify moving up in the rankings, unless other higher ranking teams lose early in their conference tournaments.
I think the "fairest" solution would be to send Uconn to Wichita paired with the team that doesn't win the ACC tournament-- Louisville or NC State. I don't see how letting UConn have a path to the Final Four with two regional "home games" 80 miles from campus is "fair".
2015-2019 their regionals were either in Albany, NY or Bridgeport, CT.
