Inability to trade JG may have a big impact.  They need cap space.  That Pitt preferred Trubisky is telling.

I'm telling ya, teams know that the 'Niners are going to have to release Jimmy (cap hit better than paying full salary).  And his surgery mucked things up a bit, too, for the 'Niners.  Bottom line:  SF will be lucky to get a R3 pick for Jimmy . . . and they'd take less at this point.  BTW, who would you rather QB your team:  Teddy Bridgewater or Jameis or Jimmy?  There's more competition out there for QB spots than many think. My prediction (if SF gets no bites, which is possible): Jimmy picks a team where path to PT is reasonable, gets way less $$ than he would under current deal with SF, and then may play pretty well for said team (assuming he is healthy). Jimmy G.'s health is the big wild card - when he's fully healthy, he is a near-excellent QB; when not, he is very pedestrian.

Pittsburgh picking up Trubisky was a great move.  Think he will thrive with the Steelers.  He has the raw tools, and his mileage is very low.
